HighLine is now able to offer a line of white color UHMW-PE sheets with ESD (ElectroStatic Discharge) properties. These sheets are ideal for food, medical and cleanroom applications.
The material has a low surface resistance of 10⁶ to 10⁹ Ω/sq. This low surface resistivity prevents both the accumulation of static charge and the attraction of dust to the surface. Both of these properties can be important in cleanroom environments. Uses include walls, workbench tops and work surfaces.
The Static dissipative properties also mean that the material is ATEX 95 compliant for use in potentially explosive atmospheres. ESD sensitive (ESDS) products can be fabricated from this product. The sheet can also be used in ESD protection areas in accordance with IEC 61340-5-1 and DIN EN 61340-5-1 standards.
In the past, UHMW-PE with ESD properties has been available as black sheet. The white properties of this ESD sheet are particularly useful where hygiene or cleanliness need to be combined with the ESD properties. The image above demonstrates the ease of maintaining work area cleanliness with the white ESD UHMW-PE sheets. Operators are able to easily see any dust or other contaminants on the surface of a white sheet and to clean them off; the sheets are resistant to a wide variety of cleaning fluids.
FDA and EU have approved the material for use in contact with food. In many food contact applications the use of white material is preferable to the more traditional black ESD products.
The UHMW-PE White ESD sheet also retains the properties of rest of the UHMW-PE range. It has exceptional wear resistance, very good slide properties and is a very good shock and impact absorber.
