UHMW-PE low coefficient of friction.

UHMW-PE is often used in applications where a low coefficient of friction is required. These applications include transport and conveyor systems, chain and belt guides, guides for PET bottles and slide bearings.

In addition to the high abrasion resistance of the UHMW-PE that is needed in many of these applications, the low coefficient of friction can improve the glide performance. This improvement can lead to reduced energy consumption, faster processing speeds and reduced maintenance requirements.

HighLine is able to offer a range of UHMW-PE sheets with low coefficient of friction. This is achieved by adding an improved additive package to the sheet. The range consists of three products:

UMMW-PE with low coefficient of friction.

This product is made from UHMW-PE with a very high molecular weight of 9 million g/mol. to achieve exceptional abrasion resistance performance. To this product we add an additives package to achieve the enhanced low coefficient of friction properties. The material is available in a cobalt blue color as standard.

UHMW-PE with low coefficient of friction and electrical conductivity.

This product maintains all of the performance properties of the standard low coefficient of friction material. In addition, we have added surface electrical conductivity of 10⁶ Ω/sq. This electrical conductivity means that the material is ATEX compliant. The material is available in a black color as standard.

UHMW-PE with low coefficient of friction, electrical conductivity and silicone free.

There is a need for UHMW-PE with low friction properties and electrical conductivity in the automobile production industry. However, the material also needs to have a silicone free. The silicone free requirement is of the negative effect that silicone products can have on automotive paints. The material is available in a black color as standard.

All of the above grades are FDA approved for use in the food industry.
