St Pancras Station Art Project

Terrance wires is an ambitious United Kingdom public art project using LED Polycarbonate lighting. New art work is commissioned every year to hang for six months from St Pancras International Train Station’s iconic train shed roof.  This year artist Tracey Emin revealed the site specific art work – I Want My Time With You, 2018.

Details of the artist and the work can be found at terrancewires.com

HighLine supplied the project with solid sheets of 1.5″ thick optical quality polycarbonate.  This project was very unusual for us as we have never before used 1.5″ thick polycarbonate in a lighting or artwork application.  The artist normally works with neon lighting. Unfortunately due to health and safety restrictions within the station, the use of neon was not permitted for this project.  To recreate the neon look, the ultra thick polycarbonate was milled to make a lens to disguise the LED light sources.  The polycarbonate also allowed the required fire rating to be achieved.  The result is a truly eye-catching installation.

HighLine produces a wide range of products for LED lighting applications including light diffusing polycarbonate and PET-G.  Please contact us if we can assist you with your lighting project.
