A manufacturer of industrial parts contacted HighLine about developing a clear polycarbonate sheet with a custom blue tint. They had been buying polycarbonate sheet from distributors and the tint of the sheet varied from lot to lot. As a result, the tint of product that they supplied to their customers also varied from shipment to shipment. Often products from different shipments could not be used alongside each other and this led to complaints from their customers.
The manufacturer was also receiving complaints about product that they believed wasn’t produced by them, but they had no way of verifying that the material was produced by a competitor.
HighLine worked with a resin manufacturer to develop a custom blue tint resin with a very tight color control. All of the sheet supplied to the customer was made from this custom resin which allowed them to produce and ship consistent product to their customer. The complaints on products for other reasons was able to be reduced by 80% as they were able to easily identify substandard products produced by competitors. An additional benefit was that sales also increased as the perception of being a quality supplier increased.
