HighLine Polycarbonate is recovering optical grade polycarbonate from windows that have been in service for over twenty years. We then use this material to make new optical grade clear polycarbonate sheet. This process is a closed loop recycling process where we take material destined for landfill, recover it and make it into new products.
To ensure that we are able to make the highest quality polycarbonate sheets from the recovered material, we had to invest in a new production facility. We are not aware of any other production facility dedicated to recovering ultra-high quality polycarbonate from end of life, abrasion resistant coated polycarbonate sheets. The production equipment only recovers polycarbonate to avoid possible contamination from other polymers. No other polymers are allowed into the facility.
Every piece of equipment was designed to ensure exceptional quality and remove any dust and contaminants from the final product.
Every pound of material that enters the facility is either turned into optical grade polycarbonate regrind for our own use, or is sold to another company to make products. No material ends up at landfill.
